There is a petition for an initiative called the Community Choice Act. It is specifically for Parkinsons patients, but I signed it with this note:
It would be wonderful if people could stay in their homes as long as possible rather than being forced into nursing homes. My own father had a stroke four years ago and is confined to a wheel chair. My mother is his primary caretaker. I work full time and go to school, and my brother lives in another state, so unfortunately we are not able to help as much as we would like. If people like my mother were able to get the help they deserve rather than being forced to wear themselves out or make the choice of putting their loved one in a nursing home, it would be monumental.
